The 1st European Convention of Environmental Laureates from 08 -11 March 2012 in Freiburg, Germany is taking place midway between the Durban and Rio +20 climate and sustainable development conferences, a crucial time for the global environmental movement. Under the motto “On the way to Rio +20”, the convention is pushing for the developement and adoption of “The Declaration on Rio +20 by European Environmental Laureates”, which aims to send a positive signal for achieving ambitious climate and sustainability goals and necessary innovations.

The European Convention of Environmental Laureates serves as an academic platform for laureates of European and a number of international environmental prizes to exchange information, make new acquaintances and engage in informal discussions. Centred on a different theme each year, the conventions want to encourage consistently sustainable policies at a European and international level.

  1. Also quasi zeitgleich zwei Klimakonferenzen in Freiburg. Die hätte man doch eigentlich zusammenbringen müssen. Sollte Frau Mutter am Samstagabend krank werden könnten wir ein Alternativprogramm bieten 😉
